In the United States,
underage drinking is regarded as unlawful and is technically illegal under the law. Underage drinking comes with various legal implications such as possible criminal charges, mandatory community service, possible suspension license, fines and even possible time in prison. It can have an effect on an adolescent's life and future, causing low self-esteem and confidence. It can also have an effect on a young person's career and social opportunities as well as affect family life. Therefore, it is imperative that parents, schools, and community members work closely with one another to educate young people about responsible adult consumption of alcohol.
