MTG Studio is Alive and will be supported.

Postby gaddlord » Fri Jan 01, 2016 6:16 am

Happy new year to all of you! :xmas:

MTG Studio is alive.

In my role of developer of the software I can confirm that I do NOT have any plans to abandon the software.

We had major delays in the support of some of the latest sets. In 2016 I had managed to organize my daily work and time in a way that I will be able to continuously support MTG Studio updates.

Here is what you can expect in 2016:
- [0] Finish support for Zendikar VS Elrazi (released Aug 2015) set cards
- [1] add support for Oath of the Gatewatch set (Jan 2016)
- finish the migration of mtgstudio.com hosting provider (95% done). I have to migrate support@mtgstudio.com email support.
- add support for Commander 2015 (released Nov 2015)
- add support for Duel Decks Anthology (released Dec 2014)
- add support for Vintage Cube
- add support for Legendary Cube
- retrofit lots of missing promotional cards
- [2] fix Update Prices issue reported by 80 users.
- [3] fix importing Collection over the same collection issue reported by
- [4] implement "Check for Card Pool Update" feature. It will allow you to update the card database without the need to wait for the whole EXE+DB update. Usually I update the database every 2-3 weeks but the program releases are more rare. This leads to the effect of new sets delays
- [5] answer some forum threads which demand replies
- [6] answer some email chains which demand replies
- [7] consider a feature "Interim Sets" where MTGS users can add cards in an CSV file (with Excel) for example and those can be used as interim solution until MTGS gets its next database update
- [8] implement Repository. Repository will be a single file which will contain all user's:
* decks
* collections (can be more than one)
* notes
* imported prices
* configuration
- [9] having support for Repository will allow the 3 top requested features to be supported
* Ability to have multiple collection files [254 votes]
* Collection report with pricess [214 votes]
* Collection automatically tracks quantities used up in decks [199 votes]

I will try to keep an uptodate list at http://mtgstudio.com/wiki/index.php?title=Version_History

I hope you would find those updates useful.

Dear MTG-Studio Team,

would it be possible to create a current list for the tasks in 2018? It would be really nice to get an overview of the planned changes. The list should have a few basic questions for all users of MTG studio.

1st step:
Will MTG Studio still exist?

2nd step:
What fundamental change to the software are planned in 2018 like:
Is an MTG Studio app in planning?
What will be done about the problem of price tagging?
Will there be an update for EU users and a collaboration with https://www.cardmarket.com?

3rd step:
Which special sets are planned to be newly incorporated in MTG Studio?
We all miss sets like:
Commander Anthology (cma) https://magiccards.info/cma/en.html
Archenemy: Nicol Bolas (e01) https://magiccards.info/e01/en.html
Commander 2017 (c17) https://magiccards.info/c17/en.html
Explorers of Ixalan (e02) https://magiccards.info/e02/en.html
Iconic Masters (ima) https://magiccards.info/ima/en.html
Duel Decks: Merfolk vs. Goblins (ddt) https://magiccards.info/ddt/en.html

when these sets will be available?

@ Gaddlord: would it possible to open this post here as a new ticket, plaese. I'm sure it would help everyone.

I wish that MTG Studio will live on.

kindly regards and a good year to all

MTG Studio is still supported. No changes here.

In terms of supported sets those will be added gradually.

In terms of major features I would consider card database update outside the MTG Studio update cycle.

I also plan catching up with the promo cards.

In terms of MTG Studio app I am not sure if you are asking for the desktop version or mobile companion app.
