MTG Studio not loading

Postby DarkFish » Sat May 17, 2008 4:21 pm

I have been testing out this great program as an evaluation on my PC, and everything runs fine. However I have attempted to put it on my laptop but after installation there are a number of errors.

The error messages read exactly:
1. Unspecified Error (this appears as it is connecting to database)
2. Database is currently in use. Please quit all unopened programs which use Deck Editor database.
3. Catastrophic failure.
4. Catastrophic failure.

After this the program loads, but almost all buttons cause errors, including when trying to exit you get the error:
Access violation at address 0095043B in module 'mtgstudio.exe'. Read of address 0000003C.
The only way I can then close it, is to CTRL+ALT+DEL and end the task.

I am running windows XP service pack 2. I am running an n-lited version of windows xp (meaning a lot of windows has not been installed to save space) so this could be the cause.

I hope I have provided sufficient information for you to help me, I would love to get this program running on my laptop!

There can be two reasons I can think of to cause this problem
1. One is that MDAC 2.8 (Microsoft Data Access Components 2.8 ) is not installed or not installed properly.
Read the proposed solution at ... light=mdac

2. You need to have Internet Explorer installed since MTG Studio uses it internally for displaying the card rules.
