Prices not listing for some M11/2011 cards.

Postby Schwanke » Wed Sep 01, 2010 7:18 pm

Harbor Serpent is one.

Price/Value is blank in studio but on abugames its 9 cents.

There were others a while ago but thought I would bring it up again since I cant seem to find the post I made about it so I might have halucinated posting it lol.

Btw, this is in the beta I'm testing though it was in the latest stable before so thats why I'm posting it here.

I'm entering a bunch of M11 cards now so I can give you a longer list later as to which ones dont have it unless you already know whats doing it?

Thanks!

Emailed you two files for info. A collection and a xls export.

Be nice to have this fixed soon if possible. Dont wanna rush ya but I cant sell any of my M11s until its fixed or I'll have to get all my sell at prices from abu manually and rather have em averaged like studio does it.

Here is the list of cards which do not have prices in MTG Studio 1.8.1.

I will have to look into the import procedures and try to handle the specific cases as much as possible.

For example all split cards do not have prices since ABU writes them as "Night and Day" and MTG Studio has then as "Day/Night".

Not a hard thing to fix but the queue of pending tasks is like endless you know.

Yeah, I can imagine on the endless queue thing. Ive refrained from mentioning this before but I really think you aught to raise the price and find someone to work with though I realize draw backs to that too and lots of people prefer to work alone.

As for the priceless ones, its a major bummer for me because that was a major major point of me getting studio second only to the fact that its a catalog. I know its a big deck making product but I personally get the most out of the catalog and out of the auto pricing. Know you cant think of me as being higher then others on the priority list but just thought I should mention it.

I guess if I have to I can use the sell at price instead and just copy the prices over for the ones that show up and do abu manually for the ones that dont. I am probably not going to be pricing the 5k commons like I thought I was so thats not nearly the problem it used to be. But think I still will have 1000uncommons easy by the time this is done that will need priced though I wont know how many of them will be M11 which seems to be the ones that are the most affected at this point.

Anyway, still great software and I look forward to the queue shrinking. :)

I am currently working on importing those missing cards.

Btw, what do you say instead of having the prices "pinned" within the MTG Studio database to have "Download Latest Prices" button which will update the soft with the latest prices on demand.

It will take about 30 seconds to download the latest uptodate prices in MTG Studio?

I think thats great. My recommondation would be to have the download latest prices update the database. That way you can get them when you want but if you take the database to someplace offline you still have the last update handy.

Also btw, check out my post in general about the pricing issue I had with mtgstudio, abugames, and troll and toad.

Really torn. Now that your saying this I might go back to mtgstudio for the convenience and let people that want me to match troll and toad bring it to my attention on their own or something.

I REALLY want to use mtgstudio's price feature to the max because I would LOVE to be able to catalog 1000 uncommons and rares (which is what I have right now uncataloged because I am still working out my system) and then click a button and spit out a new updated sales price sheet.

Problem is if you read in that other post of mine, the current set of choices of prices seems to be a bit high. Someone from the website I'm using http://mtgsalvation.com stopped by and used the software quickly to check it out and they said on average the prices were a bit high. In my post there you'll see troll and toad beat the mark on the 11 cards hands down by 20$s.

So I dont entirely know what to do. I REALLY want to use mtgstudio because of the convenience ESPECIALLY if it updates with a button AND M11 is imported. Ive learned from this website that prices change weekly sometimes daily so being able to click a button and update 1000cards would be INSANELY awesome.

But then if someone wants to buy 100 cards and the aggregated price is 50bucks more in my pricelist then a competative proffesional site like troll and toad why would they buy from a hack like me?

See my dillema?

Not sure if you can help. The best option I am playing with right now is to put more of my collection into mtgstudio and run some more pricing tests and see if there is a percentage difference that on average works it out well. Maybe if I list the cards from mtgstudio pricing then say thats 'list price' and 'sale price' is 15% off the total or something I can meet half way and get the best of both worlds.

Babble /off. :)

Until the online stores become more Developer friendly and provide API (Application Programing Interfaces) in order MTG Studio to be able to connect and retrieve data, the prices will be odd.

Good prices come from various sources. If you have the price of a 4E Terror from 30 stores on average to be $5 than it is most likely that the price is correct no matter who says what. An average from as many sources as possible is the best price.

I an keen on having the "The Magic Industrial Average" index and support it but unfortunately not many of the existing stores are keep on exposing such interface.

For example I wrote to Toad & Troll asking for API to get access to their prices and start an affiliation program but they have not even replied to me. Which is pity.
