[TODO] Collection Overwritten?

Postby halfast » Wed Oct 22, 2014 2:27 pm

Hi

I installed the new Version 3.24 and started to put all my KTK Cards into MTG Studio.

Yesterday I accidentally started the older version 3.23. I closed the session and started 3.24. All my KTK Cards which i put into MTG Studio do not appear anymore.

Did I overwrite my collection??

Any help is very much appreciated!

Cheers
Hal

Hello,

A similar thing happened to me on two different computers. One had an older and outdated MtG:S version...

MtG:S removes from your collection all unknown cards. I do think there is a message to tell you what is happening, but there is no way to cancel it.

I'm afraid your KTK cards are lost. You have to enter them again.

Thank you for your response.

Well, luckily I had a recent Excel Export :)

I could import the Khan Cards via csv.

I will be very much aware of this in the future but I think a bit more security for the database would be welcome. People do invest lots of time registering cards into the db.

By the way, how do you manage to run an older version ?
The .collection file has to be in the .EXE directory. So, unless you've renamed the .exe or overwritten it with an older version, I do not see how you did.

I suppose they were running the installable version (not the portable one) which searches the mtgstudio.collection file in C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\MTG Studio folder.

I would consider adding a Cancel button for that scenario which will close MTG Studio but at least would prevent from accidental start of older versions.
