What is the difference between the programs? I have looked around the forums and can't find anything?

Use portable :P
It just keeps all the configs and whatnot all in one place AFAIK. That way it can easily be transferred over to a usb drive or other place without having to track down all the resources.

MTG Studio - is an installed application
MTG Studio portable - is a zip file with the application and no installation is needed. Just copy the zip on your PC and unzip it.

Apart from that difference of installing it there are no other differences between the two mentioned above.

Well, since it is already installed, I guess it does not matter any more.

Gadd is, of course, the man to talk to about all this. As I recall though you can easily make your copy 'portable' just by renaming the mtgstudio.exe file to mtgstudio_portable.exe and you collection file to mtgstudio_portable.collection.
