About fakes and unofficial

Postby jAsOnX73 » Sat Mar 12, 2005 12:38 pm

I really think we should keep 'unofficial' stuff separated from the WoTC stuff.
Having an 'Unofficial' folder in which to put 'Rugrats' and such should be a great way to handle the database. I really don't likee seeing 'manga arts' or 'weird looking card' (different from MTG layout I mean) mixed with promo cards and unreleased rare stuff.

Separating things means we could also manage fake cards.
Two sets comes into mind right now: Gauntlet and Monty Python.
Using subfolders into the 'unofficial' category could give the chance to archive for good 'all things Magic'.

What do you think about that?

Unofficial cards

Postby gaddlord » Sat Mar 12, 2005 3:42 pm

I am wandering whether to name this "edition" Fake or rather "Unofficial"

I really don't likee seeing 'manga arts' or 'weird looking card' (different from MTG layout I mean) mixed with promo cards and unreleased rare stuff.

I 100% agree.

Two sets comes into mind right now: Gauntlet and Monty Python.

Where I can get more information about them? Also card art?

I am also considering adding Unofficial from

http://mtglair.de/sets.html

not all of them are wothwhile, tho :)

i found the 'gauntlet' unofficial set inside a big rar file I downloaded. If you want I can send you a zip with Gauntlet and a bunch of unofficial&fake cards I got in the same file :)

btw, is it possible to create subfolders into the "Unofficial" folder?

meaning:

Unofficial/Monty Python
Unofficial/Gauntlet

and so on.
Things would be sorted in a better way instead of putting all cards in the same directory.
We could also have

Unofficial/Rugrats
Unofficial/Counters

Just a thought.

ps. what's with the

Starter
Starter 1999
Starter 2000

in the DB? Looks to me there are just 2 'starter' sets.
Keep up the great work.

I just discovered a thing about 'Gauntlet':

http://www.magiclibrary.net/cgi-bin/yab ... 0593917316

These cards are virtual cards made by the creator of Dante's Card Maker to show the capabilities of his software. Gauntlet was a whole set he did just for fun, with images taken from the internet. All cards feature a morning star as set symbol.

Hope it helps.
