I am currently working on importing those missing cards.

Btw, what do you say instead of having the prices "pinned" within the MTG Studio database to have "Download Latest Prices" button which will update the soft with the latest prices on demand.

It will take about 30 seconds to download the latest uptodate prices in MTG Studio?
_________________
MTG Studio Magic: the Gathering Deck and Collection Editor

Yeah, I can imagine on the endless queue thing. Ive refrained from mentioning this before but I really think you aught to raise the price and find someone to work with though I realize draw backs to that too and lots of people prefer to work alone.

As for the priceless ones, its a major bummer for me because that was a major major point of me getting studio second only to the fact that its a catalog. I know its a big deck making product but I personally get the most out of the catalog and out of the auto pricing. Know you cant think of me as being higher then others on the priority list but just thought I should mention it.

I guess if I have to I can use the sell at price instead and just copy the prices over for the ones that show up and do abu manually for the ones that dont. I am probably not going to be pricing the 5k commons like I thought I was so thats not nearly the problem it used to be. But think I still will have 1000uncommons easy by the time this is done that will need priced though I wont know how many of them will be M11 which seems to be the ones that are the most affected at this point.

Anyway, still great software and I look forward to the queue shrinking.

Here is the list of cards which do not have prices in MTG Studio 1.8.1.

I will have to look into the import procedures and try to handle the specific cases as much as possible.

For example all split cards do not have prices since ABU writes them as "Night and Day" and MTG Studio has then as "Day/Night".

Not a hard thing to fix but the queue of pending tasks is like endless you know.

Code:

Hmm. They should open on your laptop though. If you make them under a portable copy then they should open under any portable copy of the same version. (Or be imported into newer versions)

I believe you said you were trying to get this to work before you put too many cards into it. My recommendation is you install a version of the portable copy on all the computers you want to transfer between and create a test collection.

If you open any of the portables and create a collection and then exit the program it will create a mtgstudio_portable.collection file in the portable directory. Then you can copy this file from portable installation to portable installation and should be able to read it just fine so long as you copy it into the portable directory before you open the program.

Now I REALLY could have sworn that if you went and found your .collection file from your first machine and copied it into the directory of a portable installation and renamed it to mtgstudio_portable.collection. (Over writing the one that was there if there was one) that SHOULD have worked.

My reocommendation is basically since your doing multiple machines dont worry about installing it normally. Just install the portable on everything and copy the file manually. Thats what I do. I upload my collection files to a ftp site I own and download them to each computer before I work on them then upload the updated files when I am done. That way I always have a backed up copy on my server in case any of my machines die and I am always working with the latest versions no matter which machine I happen to sit down to next to work on them.

I even take this a step further and every time I upload a file I upload a copy with the date in the name so I know which date I worked on it last. That way I have different versions from different days in case I have to go back a few for some reason. Space is cheap enough now adays doesnt matter how much you use anymore and I have had situations where I have forgotten to rename something and erased my latest version of my collection and lost 100 cards worth of work (which is a lot for me cuz my computer is slow lol).

Hope that helps some more. Hope my babbling isnt getting in the way.
Just run through your comprehensive info Shwanke. I understand what you are saying about the "portable"........ but it doesn't really seem to address my concerns about backing up my main studio collection.

If I cannot take my main studio collection and open it on my laptop....which I cannot......for the reasons that you explained. What happens if my main PC crashes... how is the studio collection files that I backed up on a stick ever going to open on a new PC if they don't open on my laptop?

Did that make sense?
Emailed you two files for info. A collection and a xls export.

Be nice to have this fixed soon if possible. Dont wanna rush ya but I cant sell any of my M11s until its fixed or I'll have to get all my sell at prices from abu manually and rather have em averaged like studio does it.

I accidentalliy typed in 14.9900 (not sure how) but my cursoer was between the 99 and the 00 so I hit delete to delete the two zeros and it deleted the record.

I recreated it by actively going back in and adding the same record and typing in 14.9900 and moving the cursor to between the 99 and 00 and hiting delete and it did it again.

Even though I hit delete twice it seemed to only delete the one. I guess maybe there was nothing under the focus after it got deleted. Dont know for sure.

Record was Fauna Shaman from M11 if it matters.
Harbor Serpent is one.

Price/Value is blank in studio but on abugames its 9 cents.

There were others a while ago but thought I would bring it up again since I cant seem to find the post I made about it so I might have halucinated posting it lol.

Btw, this is in the beta I'm testing though it was in the latest stable before so thats why I'm posting it here.

I'm entering a bunch of M11 cards now so I can give you a longer list later as to which ones dont have it unless you already know whats doing it?

Upon re-import only the card prices are reevaluated. All other card attributes are kept intact.

It is strange that someone reported this not-working for a deck. Decks card color is taken from the card pool when the deck is loaded. Can someone confirm that there is an issue with decks?

I have since fixed it just by removing/adding them back to my collection, so I can't confirm on the version I'm on. I wasn't loading a deck when I was testing it, however, I just added the cards to the deck from collection without saving/loading it. The deck loading probably works fine.
All 42 formats will also be supported when checking against Deck Legality.

The format rules validation is now better and the rule violation report is much more extensive.

I think ideally it should be the classic "Do you wish to delete these number of records: x" and then have a check box "dont show this dialog next time" and then an option in the configuration pages to turn it back on.
It would also be nice if there was a "are you sure" message when deleting any cards from your collection. Not just more than 1 row. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has accidentally deleted a card and don't even know which card in order to fix it.
This can be done but yet Abilities is one of the features not updated for years. I doubt it will be of any help to have it for collection or decks.

I plan making a full taxonomy tree for abilities and have all cards automatically populated with all abilities they have.
But this is yet a feature to come.
_________________
MTG Studio Magic: the Gathering Deck and Collection Editor

Hello,

The filter bottom (with abilities tab) is available only in the pool.
Could be really useful to have it in collection also.
